DUST MITES
Dust mite allergy is an IgE mediated Type 1 hypersensitivity reaction to dust mite allergens, commonly found in household dust. The prevalence of atopic diseases like allergic rhinitis and asthma with house dust mite being the allergen has been increasing. This activity reviews the evaluation and treatment of dust mite allergy and highlights the role of the interprofessional team in improving care for patients with this condition.
MOLD MITES
Mold mites primarily feed on mold spores and hyphae, making mold-infested areas their preferred habitat. This relationship between mold mites and mold is not incidental but symbiotic; mold provides the perfect food source and environment for mold mites to thrive. Where mold is found, particularly in warm, humid conditions, mold mites are likely to follow. They prefer areas with poor ventilation and high humidity levels.
